Obituary of Joan Rotella

Joan Ann Rotella, formerly of Stony Point, NY, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, April 10, 2014 at Bon Secours Hospital. She was 83. She was born in Nyack Hospital on August 28, 1930 to the late Signore and Edith (Myers) Todahl. She graduated from Nyack High School. Joan worked at Lederle Labs and Prentice Hall. She is predeceased by her husband Edward of 49 years, her son Edward Jr., and her two grandsons E.J. and Kyle. Joan is survived by her daughter Kim (Raymond J.) Rolando of Matamoras, PA, her son Richard Rotella, by her sister Rhoda (Henry) Castaldo of West Nyack, her two grandsons Nicholas Rolando and Ray F. (Colby) Rolando, and two great-grandsons Jake and Dean Rolando. She was a volunteer for many years at the Haverstraw Brick Museum and a member of the Thiells Methodist Church. Joan loved her cats, playing cards, doing puzzles, watching TV, and eating Dove milk chocolates. The family wishes to thank the staff of Bon Secours Hospital in Port Jervis for their incredible care, kindness and compassion. Visitation will be held on Monday, April 14, 2014 from 10am-12pm at T.J. McGOWAN SONS FUNERAL HOME, 133 Broadway, HAVERSTRAW. Funeral Service immediately following at Thiells Methodist Church, 102 Rosman Rd, Thiells, NY.
