Obituary of Elizabeth Ann McCormick

Elizabeth Ann "Betty Ann" McCormick, of Haverstraw passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on August 18, 2014. She was 74. Elizabeth was born in Haverstraw on July 9, 1940 to William "Skiddy" and Veronica (Phalen) McCormick, and was a proud resident of Haverstraw for her entire life. She was a graduate of St. Peter's School in 1957, and attended St. Luke's School of Nursing in Newburgh, NY. She was a graduate of RCC in 1963. Elizabeth worked at Helen Hayes Hospital from 1960-1995, retiring on July 10, 1995 as Head Nurse. Elizabeth will be remembered by her many friends and family as a kind and generous woman who valued those she loved above all else. Elizabeth is survived by her beloved niece Donna (Kevin) Casey, her two grandnieces: Amanda and Kelly Casey of Stony Point, her brother William "Billy" of North Carolina, her nephew Anthony of Florida, and by many devoted friends. She was preceded in death by her sister, Donna Grace in 2006, and by her parents. Elizabeth's family will receive friends at T.J. McGOWAN SONS FUNERAL HOME, HAVERSTRAW on Tuesday, August 19 from 7-9pm, and on Wednesday, August 20 from 2-4 & 7-9pm. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Peter's Church, Haverstraw, on Thursday, August 21 at 10am, with interment to follow at St. Peter's Cemetery, Haverstraw.
