Obituary of Maria Correa

Maria Correa of Thiells, NY passed away surrounded by family and friends on October 6, 2014. She was 79 years young. Maria was born in Santa Isabella, Puerto Rico on April 17, 1935 to Paula and Jose Cintron. She was married to Carlos Correa who passed away June 18, 2008. Maria is survived by her five children Nilda, Carlos, Daisy, Luis and Awilda, her six grandchildren Melissa, Amanda, Nancy, Christian, Alex and Ricardo, one great grandson Aidan, brothers Jose and Luis. Maria's heart was large enough, however, to embrace many others including her nephew Jose Jr., her two son-in-laws Miguel and Kenichiro, her great grandson-in-law Angel, her step grandson Miguel Jr., and many other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, too many to mention but all of whom were an integral part of her life and who already miss her tremendously. Maria was the matriarch and cornerstone of her family. She led by example of how to give love and ask nothing in return. Maria always put her family first. She was not a big woman but carried her family on her shoulders and taught us how to be strong by her example. Maria dedicated her life to caring for her children and grandchildren and was happiest when she was surrounded by all of them together. While her loss is deeply felt by all we were blessed to have her in our lives and will continue to cherish our wonderful memories of her. Maria's family will receive friends and extended family at T.J. McGowan Sons Funeral Home on Saturday, October 11, 2014 between 4:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. There will be a private cremation the following day. The family would like to thank everyone for all of their kind support during this difficult time.
