Obituary of Dorothy A. Donato

Dorothy A. Donato, 80, of Stony Point, passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side on February 9, 2015. She was born on November 15, 1934 in Stony Point, NY to Thomas & Clara (Doyle) Fay. Dorothy married her loving husband Dominic Donato in Sept of 1959, he predeceased her in 2003. Dorothy worked at Helen Hayes Hospital for 30 years. She loved to go camping, play cards and travel. It is said that Dorothy had a huge sense of humor. She was also known for being a very generous and loving person. The biggest thing she enjoyed was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Dorothy is predeceased by her brother Thomas Fay Jr. and her sister Florence Douglas. She is survived by her loving children JoAnn Donato Corry and her husband John of Stony Point, Julie Ann Kynast and her husband Brian of Stony Point, her adored grandchildren Katherine, Jonathan, Sarah Kynast, and James Coughlin, her big brother Donald & sister-in-law Bonnie Fay of Cornwall, and Marie and brother-in-law Joseph Crill of Highland Falls, and her sister-in-law Patricia Fay of Stony Point. Also surviving are her numerous nieces, nephews, and her extended family, including the Corry's, Hayman's and Crosby's. The family will receive friends and relatives on Weds Feb. 11th from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the T J McGowan Sons Funeral Home, 71 N. Central Highway, Garnerville, NY 10923. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated for Dorothy on Thursday, Feb. 12th at 10 AM in the Church of the Immaculate Conception in Stony Point, with interment to follow at St. Peters Cemetery in Haverstraw. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Dorothy's memory to a charity of one's choice.
