Obituary of Brian E. Joyce

Brian E. Joyce, of Stony Point, NY, passed away peacefully in his sleep, by the side of his loving wife, on July 15th, 2017. He was born February 26th, 1953 in Brooklyn, NY, and had resided at his beloved "Camelot" in Stony Point for the past 25 years. He is survived by his wife, Gerrie and his two sons, Trevor and Kyle. Brian is also survived by his sister, Eileen Caluri, and his many loving nieces and nephews, as well as his loyal golden retrievers, Sophie and Shadow. His kindness and selflessness will be irreplaceable; he will be missed more than words can properly describe. After years of hard work on nights and weekends, Brian graduated SUNY Empire State College in May of 2008, receiving a well-deserved Bachelor of Science degree in Labor Relations/Organizational Behavior/Economics. He took great pride in his role as a Procurement SME with Con Edison, having worked his way up from a meter reader over the course of a long career. Brian served as the Chairman of Stewards for Westchester Sub-Station Operations for over 10 years, and at the time of his retirement, was the longest tenured member of the union, with more than 40 years of service. He found his true calling as a loving husband and father, whose family was the singular greatest passion in his life. Since the time he met Gerrie at the age of sixteen, she never strayed from his thoughts, not even for a minute. As a father, he excitedly shared every bit of wisdom, offered a shoulder for every tear, and provided the necessary push to chase down every dream. Their joy was his joy, and he embraced his role with a pride that will always live on in the laughter and hearts of his wife and children. With a legendary smile and an aptitude for delivering the most timely and emphatic hugs, Brian Joyce was a kind man who left an impression on everyone who was lucky enough to cross his path. Visitation will take place at T.J. McGowan and Sons Funeral Home in Garnerville, New York, Wednesday, July 19, 2017 4:00-8:00 PM and Thursday, July 20, 2017 4:00-8:00 PM. Mass will be celebrated Friday, July 21, 2017 at 10:00 AM at Immaculate Conception Church in Stony Point.
