Obituary of Shirley M. Lewis

Shirley M. Lewis, of Stony Point, passed away on August 21, 2017, at the age of 90. Shirley was born on January 20, 1927 in West Haverstraw to John and Margaret (Cullen) Hurley. On November 27, 1948, Shirley married her beloved husband Harry "Buddy" Lewis. Shirley loved spending time with her family, and was an active member of the Stony Point Lions Club, the Catholic Daughters, and the Red Hat Society. Shirley is survived by her beloved husband Harry "Buddy" Lewis of Stony Point; her cherished daughter Pamela (Joseph) Abate of Sloatsburg; her adored grandchildren Melissa (William) Springer and Jason (Meredith) Abate; by her beloved great-grandchildren Lilybeth and Liam, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Shirley was predeceased by her sisters Veronica Antonelli and Joan Kenny, and by her brother Jack Hurley. Shirley's family will receive friends and relatives at T.J. McGOWAN SONS FUNERAL HOME, 71 N. Central Highway, GARNERVILLE, on Friday, August 25, 2017 from 4-8PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Shirley on Saturday, August 26 at 10AM at St. Gregory Barbarigo Church, Garnerville, with interment to follow at F.W. Loescher Veterans Cemetery, New Hempstead, NY. In lieu of flowers, friends who wish may donate in Shirley's memory to the Stony Point Lions Club, 79 S Liberty Dr., Stony Point NY.
