Obituary of Saverio or "Marty" Martello

Saverio J. Martello (Sam) of Stony Point passed away on October 25, 2017 in the NYS Veterans Home in Montrose., NY . He was born on February 1, 1915 in Haverstraw NY to Vincenzo & Concetta Bosico Martello. He married the love of his life Rita Phelan in St. Peters Church in Haverstraw on Oct. 5, 1941. Sam was a career Army soldier Serving his country for 21 year .He later retired from the Dept. of Defense at West Point. For the next 17 years he was a butcher ay West Point serving the Federal Government for 38 years. Sam was a Member of the Knights of Columbus chapter 515 in Highland Falls and the American Legion . He was also a Parishioner of St. Gregory's Church. Saverio is predeceased by his parents and his siblings Daniel, Elizabeth and Catherine. He is survived by his loving children Juanita (Donald) Cameron, Mary Ellen (Thomas) Olivia and Saverio J Martello Jr. (Also known as Jimmy) Also survived by his sisters Rita DiCarlo, Marian Vance and his brother Vincent Martello. His 8 grandchildren Donald (Jennifer), Nicole (Bryan), James (Kelly), Daniel (Aleena) Patrick (Lindsey), Peter, Elizabeth and Melissa (Brian) . His 10 great Grandchildren, Cameron, Jackson, Carsyn, Ashtyn, James, Julia, Danny, Aubry, Eliana and Alyssa. The Family will receive friends & family on Sunday Oct. 29th at the TJ McGowan sons Funeral Home 133 Broadway Haverstraw, NY. From 4 - 8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Saverio on Monday Oct 30th at 10 AM in St Peters Church with Interment to follow in St Peters Cemetery.
