Obituary of James W Murphy

James W. Murphy, 83, of Stony Point, formerly of Pearl River, passed away on Jan. 16, 2014. He was born on June 25, 1930 in New York, NY to John & Nora (Hulsman) Murphy. James married his loving wife Bernice in 1961. She predeceased him on Feb. 11, 2004. Jim proudly served his country in the US Marines Corps during the Korean War. He worked for Xerox Corp in Blauvelt for 33 years. He was a member of the AOH Pipe & Drum Band Color Guard, the American Legion Post, VFW and Knights of Columbus, all in Pearl River. He was also active in St Margaret's Church in Pearl River as well as the Adoration Chapel in St. Gregory's Church in Garnerville NY. He was a former member of the Haverstraw Elks. Jim is predeceased by his two (2) sisters and his five (5) brothers. He is survived by his loving daughter Eileen her husband Damian Cerrati and his cherished and adored granddaughter Jacqueline Rose Cerrati of Stony Point, his twin brother Edward Murphy of Florida and numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces & nephews. The family will receive friends on Monday Jan. 20, 2014 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the TJ McGowan and Sons Funeral Home 71 N. Central Highway Garnerville, NY. A Mass of Christian burial will be held for James on Tuesday Jan. 20th at 10 AM at St. Gregory Barbarigo Church with interment to follow in the Fred Loescher Ro. Co. Veterans Cemetery in New Hempstead, NY.
