Obituary of John G Reilly

John G. Reilly, 85, of Stony Point passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 12, 2014 at the Joe Raso Hospice Residence surrounded by his loving family. Born in Manhattan on July 28, 1928 he was a son of the late Catherine Larkin and George Reilly. He resided in Stony Point for the past 55 years. John was a graduate of Cardinal Hayes High School Bronx, NY and St. John's University Brooklyn, NY. He was proud to have served his country in the U.S. Naval Reserves and in the U.S. Army in the Korean Conflict from 1952 to 1953. John went on to work at IBM for 40 years and retired as Manager of Financial Controls with the Real Estate and Construction Division. He was a fifty year member of the Wayne Hose Volunteer Fire Department in Stony Point and the American Legion. John is survived by his wife of 60 years, Pat; sister Sally McGuire; 5 children Mary Frawley (Jack), John Reilly (Tina), Pat Francisco (George), Joseph Reilly (Lorraine), and Jeanne Perle (Adam). John was Poppy to 10 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. John is predeceased by his brother George Reilly. The family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday, February 16, 2014 from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. at T.J. McGowan Sons Funeral Home 71 N. Central Highway, Garnerville, NY. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, February 17, 2014 at 10 A.M. at Immaculate Conception Church 26 John Street, Stony Point. Burial with military honors will follow at St. Peter's Cemetery Haverstraw, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations in John's name may be made to United Hospice of Rockland 11 Stokum Lane New City, NY 10956 or to Cardinal Hayes High School Development Fund 650 Grand Concourse Bronx, NY 10451.
