Obituary of John A Rizzi

John A. Rizzi, 96, of Stony Point, NY peacefully passed away on March 22, 2014 at the New York State Veterans Home in Montrose, NY. He was born on May 21, 1917 in Crementen, NY to Francis & Mary (Vasco) Rizzi. John proudly served his country in the US Army during WWII and he was extremely proud that he served with General Patton with the 3rd Army and the Battle of the Bulge. Before joining the Army John worked as a sandhog working on the Lincoln Tunnel. He worked as a manager for A & P supermarkets for 37 years, he also worked for Aunt Millie's in Congers. He was a member of the Stony Point Senior Citizens and he loved doing wood work. John is predeceased by his loving wife Ella, his sisters Mary & Adriana and his brother Carlo. John is survived by his loving children James and his wife Susan of Stony Point, Joseph and his wife Janice of New Jersey, Katherine and her husband Chet Grzanka of Fountain Hills, Arizona, John Rizzi of the Bronx, Frank and his wife Lorraine of Stony Point and his adored grandchildren Keith and his wife Debra Rizzi, Jill, Craig, Nichole and Eric Rizzi, and Danny and Christine Whitton, his cherished great grandchildren Mia, Marley, Mason, Monroe Rizzi and Katily Whitton. John is also survived by his brothers Thomas & Francis Rizzi, his sisters Mary Kazak, Theresa Henry and Caroline Rizzi. The Family will receive friends & relatives on Thursday March 27th from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the TJ McGowan & Son's Funeral Home 71 N. Central Highway Garnerville, NY. A mass of Christian Burial will be held for John on Friday March 28th at 10:15 AM at St. Gregory Barbarigo Church with Interment to follow at the Fred Loescher Veterans Cemetery in New Hempstead, NY. In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made in John's memory to the Paralyzed Veterans of America, Donation Processing Center, PO Box 758532, Topeka, KS 66675-8532
