Obituary of Theresa A. O'Brien

Theresa A. O'Brien (nee Kiselak) passed away on May 4, 2014. She was 87. Tess was born to the late Mathus and Antonia Cifersky Kiselak on November 29, 1926 in Tarrytown, NY. Tess married her hometown sweetheart, William "Red" O'Brien on September 22, 1946. They moved to Rockland in 1955 and shared 58 years together before Red's passing in 2004. Tess and Red raised two sons; Richard (Moira) and Kevin (Carol). Tess enjoyed family functions and listening to the antics of her grandchildren: Kara, Rory, Sean, Christopher and Richie. Tess was one of eight children. Tess is predeceased by sisters Mary, Josephine and Katherine and brothers Frank and Joseph. Brothers John and Robert survive her. Tess retired from Precise Imports in Suffern, NY and spent her leisure time playing Bingo, and trips to Atlantic City and Yonkers Raceway. Although usually not a winner, she enjoyed the thrill of the possibility. She was a member of Stony Point Seniors community Calling Hours are on Thursday, 2- 4 & 7-9 PM at the TJ McGowan Sons Funeral Home 71 N. Central Highway Garnerville, NY. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday at 10:15 AM at St. Gregory Barbarigo Church. Burial will follow at Mt. Repose Cemetery, Haverstraw, NY. In lieu of flowers donations are being requested in Theresa's memory to The Joe Raso Hospice Residence, New City, NY or Helen Hayes Hospital Foundation (Stroke Unit), West Haverstraw, NY.
