Obituary of Margaret A. Stevens

Margaret Stevens, of Stony Point, passed away on June 12, 2014. Born to Ronald and Margaret Hoelzel in Newark, NJ, Margaret lived most of her life in Stony Point, where she was an active member of the community. She worked in the Admissions Office at Helen Hayes Hospital before retiring in 1996. Margaret is survived by her loving husband Bob of 53 years, sons Robert (daughter-in-law Lisa) and Michael, granddaughters Emme and Katy, brother Ronald Hoelzel and sister Mary Devitt, as well as many cherished nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Margaret is preceded in death by her parents, and brother Edward. Margaret was an active parishioner at St. Gregory Barbarigo Church for more than 50 years where she also served as a Eucharistic Minister. She proudly served her community from a young age and this continued throughout her life. Margaret's family will receive friends at T.J. McGOWAN SONS FUNERAL HOME, 71 N. Central Highway, Garnerville, on Sunday, June 15, 2014 from 7-9pm, and on Monday, June 16 from 2-4 & 7-9pm. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Gregory Barbarigo Church on Tuesday, June 17 at 11:30am, with interment to follow at Ascension Cemetery, Airmont. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may donate in Margaret's memory may do so to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, Memphis, TN.
