Obituary of Joan T. Beegan

Joan T. Beegan, 82, of Haverstraw passed away on August 17, 2014. She was born on June 19, 1932 in New York City to Walter & Josephine Regan Moonis. Joan married her loving husband Thomas J. Beegan on Sept. 14, 1957 in Sacred Heart Church in the Bronx; he predeceased her on Feb. 27, 1986. Joan worked at Letchworth Village for the Health Insurance dept. for 20 years. She was a member of the Red Hats, Haverstraw Elks Ladies Club 877, Catholic Daughters, The Alter & Rosary society of St. Peters Church, the Rockland Seniors as well as the Haverstraw seniors.. But most of all she enjoyed being with her family & friends. Besides her husband, Joan is predeceased by her sister Anne Moonis. She is survived by her loving children Joan Williams of Garnerville, Loretta (Mel) Diaz of Stony Point, her cherished grandchildren Keith, Scott, Christopher Williams, Matthew & Nicole Diaz and her adored great-granddaughter Makayla. The family will receive friends & family on Wednesday, Aug. 20th from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the TJ McGowan Sons Funeral Home 71 N. Central Highway, Garnerville, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Joan on Thursday, Aug. 21th at 11:30 at St. Peters Church in Haverstraw with interment to follow in St. Peters Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations are made in Joan's memory to the American Cancer Assoc., Hudson Valley Chapter, 121 Executive Drive, New Windsor, NY 12553.
