Obituary of Julia Vitucci

Julia Vitucci of Haverstraw NY, a long time resident of Village on the Green, died on February 16, 2018 at the Joe Raso Hospice Residence. She was 88. Julia was born May 19, 1929 in Brooklyn, NY to Mary and Vito Sangirardi, Italian immigrants. She was the oldest of four sisters and while in Italy on a trip visiting family she met Angelo Vitucci. Julia and Angelo married in 1950 and settled in Brooklyn. In the 1960s Julia, Angelo and their three children moved to Haverstraw, NY. Julia spent many years working in the Haverstraw A&P where she enjoyed working and seeing her friends and neighbors as they came to the store. She retired from A&P and continued to work part time in retail until age 79. While working full time, Julia raised her children and took care of the family home as her husband also worked long hours. Julia was artistic and a skilled seamstress. She enjoyed sewing many special occasion outfits for herself and her children. She took pride in a spotless home and was a wonderful cook. Her homemade meals and desserts were appreciated and savored by all at family gatherings. Julia was loved and admired deeply by her siblings and children and she was also a doting grandmother to her five grandchildren. Julia was predeceased by her husband Angelo whom she took care of until his death. Julia is survived by her children Paul and his wife Mitzi of Titusville, Fl, Victoria of Concord, MA and Lisa of Garnerville, NY and her grandchildren Ginina, Eva, John Paul, Katherine and Alexandra. Friends & family may call at the TJ McGowan Sons Funeral Home 133 Broadway Haverstraw, NY on Friday Feb. 23rd from 4 - 8 PM. Julia's funeral mass will be celebrated on Sat. Feb 24th at 10 AM in St. Peters Church with burial to follow in St. Peters Cemetery.
