Obituary of John W. Barbera

John William Barbera, 60, of West Haverstraw, New York, passed away peacefully at home on February 23, 2018. He was born on January 29, 1957 in Suffern, New York to the late Louis and Margaret Barbera. John was known to stargaze and loved the wonders of the universe and had a passion for his daughter Monique McCormick. His selfless acts will always be remembered especially amongst friends and family. He would give the shirt off his back to comfort his fellow man. Memories of John will live on forever like the Jack in the Box incident, where he ordered 250 tacos and held up the entire drive-thru for hours. His sense of humor will forever be remembered and truly missed. Giants, Rangers and tacos will always bring back fond times of John. John is predeceased by his parents, Louis and Margaret Barbera, sisters Rosemarie and Margaret, and his brothers Louis, James, Tommy and Michael. He is survived by his daughters Monique (Danny) McCormick and Melissa Krillow, sisters Betty Getty, Deborah Robertson, and Mary Pitt, brothers Nicky, Joseph, Brian, David, Anthony and George, and best friends (brother) David Walsh and Jackie Hewitt. The family will be receiving friends and relatives on Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at the T,J McGowan Sons Funeral Home, 71 N. Central Highway, Garnerville, NY from 2-4 & 7-9PM. A private cremation will follow.
